Sea Tides

 There is a single fount for every blessing we receive. We see these blessings all around us. They come into our lives both expectedly and unexpectedly. The whole world is filled with His glory.

But, like the ocean tides, good and bad ebb and flow across the earth.

When the tide is out we know where our help comes from. In the words of David’s prayer– “Save, Lord.”

If I have a hundred friends and one departs, I will leave the ninety-nine to search for the one.

Psalm 12

Save, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;

    those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.

2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;

    they flatter with their lips

    but harbor deception in their hearts.

3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips

    and every boastful tongue—

4 those who say,

    “By our tongues we will prevail;

    our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”

5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,

    I will now arise,” says the Lord.

    “I will protect them from those who malign them.”

6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,

    like silver purified in a crucible,

    like gold refined seven times.

7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe

    and will protect us forever from the wicked,

8 who freely strut about

    when what is vile is honored by the human race.

Amen!

False prophets and false teachers abound. Even to the point of false teachers accusing other false teachers. There is no honor among thieves. Sheep thieves, all. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. Immersion in the scriptures with discernment is so critical for us in these days.

And, with great thanksgiving, we can stand on the promise of our Savior that nothing and nobody can steal even one steadfast follower of Jesus out of His hand. Let us, therefore, stand firm, and having stood, to stand with our hearts set like flint on our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus to the end. May God bless us all as we continue this spiritual war against Truth.

    Thank you GW for your continued encouragement and exhortation in these increasingly darkening days! Come Thou Fount is one my favorite hymns. I often find its words bubbling up as I walk. My favorite stanza is “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it/ Prone to leave the God I love /Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it/ Seal it for Thy courts above is.” We’ve just returned from our annual fishing trip to the mountains with my father and brothers so I have some catching up to do with my reading. I look forward to reading what you have posted. I am always blessed by what you share and write.

    1. Hi, Beth. Thank you for your encouragement. I’m so glad you found this encouraging. Come Thou Fount is one of my all time favorites. It both whispers and sings to my soul.
      It’s great to hear you and your family were able to get away to the mountains for some refreshment time. God is so good!
