Impetus: a driving force: impulse 2) incentive; stimulus
I have been reviewing by scanning over the last five years of this blog. I am reasonably satisfied I have kept the theme consistent throughout. Saying it in many different ways, with a singular steadfast, primary focus.
That theme has been, and is, to keep pointing toward the shining Light of Almighty God, in Christ Jesus, the Savior of the world for all who believe.
Christ Jesus is the singular bright Light in a dark world. All light is a reflection that comes from His light. That the world is in deepening darkness is fully displayed in His decision to enter into the world Himself, announcing this truth.
Not merely announcing but being the Light to lead us out of the darkness that has us bound to it. He has been this Light from the beginning.
Most emphatically displaying it when He split the history of the world in half by invading His creation personally; and continues doing so to this day.
He will never give up because He has already won in the self-designated purpose of His death, burial, and resurrection by way of the cross of Calvary.
I state this plainly, though briefly, here because I am not satisfied that I have met my goal over these past five years.
If I encapsulated the message of the cross in fewest of verses in the Bible, I would list these:
“But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.” Deuteronomy 30:14
“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:8-10 NKJV
And to those of us in allegiance to Christ these present days, I would say let us not lose heart under the gathering darkness. For in our Lord’s own true words:
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 16:1-6
I am aware that writing is more than the number of words arranged on a page. It is the efficacy of thought conveyed within. In this, I fall short and trust the Lord to translate it effectively to the readers of His choosing.
Still — I am aware of my responsibility and struggle to meet that incumbency to the best of my ability in every effort. And yet — I rarely satisfy my own standards completely.
Knowing I should never reach such a goal, as I would probably stop writing for fear of overworking ‘perfection.’ Therefore, I struggle onward with the intent of my upward calling in Jesus Christ.
May you rest in the Peace and Light of Christ.
