Eclecticism: the practice of deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. “the eclecticism of his work consciously reflects his upbringing”
Sorrow, sorrow everywhere,
And how the soul did shrink.
Sorrow, sorrow everywhere,
And not a wight did blink.
One after one by the star dogged moon
Too quick for groan or sigh
Each turned his face with a ghastly pang
And cursed me with his eye
Four times fifty living men
(And I heard nor sigh nor groan)
With heavy thump, a lifeless lump
They dropped down one by one.
The curse it lives on in their eyes
The mariner he wished he’d die
Along with the sea creatures
But they lived on, so did he
And by the light of the moon
He prays for their beauty not doom
With heart he blesses them
God’s creatures all them too*
Life isn’t always a bed of roses, no matter the advertisers try selling to you bottled sunshine. Buyer beware.
But God. He isn’t buying and He isn’t selling, He only gives the best. Between, before or during and after life’s greatest tests.
“What does man gain by all the toil
at which he toils under the sun?
A generation goes, and a generation comes,
but the earth abides.” (Ecclesiastes 1:3-4)
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of mankind.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (-Psalm 34:18.) Do you feel as though your recent heartbreaks are crushing your spirit? God is closer to you than you realize, and He can save you from despair as you face your broken heart.
