Marked thoughts to see us homeward
It would behoove us all who profess our allegiance to Christ, to grasp and embrace the core doctrines of Christianity. Otherwise, we will be unable to defend the truth delivered to the saints of God (Jude 3). Let me adjure you to take some time (today) to review one of the main summaries of Christian truth, such as the Apostles’ Creed or the Nicene Creed. Determine which parts of the creeds you can explain well and study the Bible’s teaching on those parts to which you have not devoted much attention.
It will be good for the soul, and invigorating to the spirit for stiffening our allegiance to the Savior. It may even prompt the beginning of the flame of revival from the Spirit within our lives this very day.
Both the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed are available on my Home page in the header menu. There is spiritual power in familiarity with the history and doctrinal guidance left to us by the fathers of the Christian faith. They who labored so tirelessly for the sake of we who would follow through the ages. “Therefore considering we have so great a cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus.”
Personal revival then, personal revival now, personal revival everyday. Let it begin with our being willing – under the guidance of the Spirit Himself.
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 3:13-14
“On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.” ~Acts 2:1-3
Once a teacher always a teacher, I reckon. I endeavor to explore creative ways to say the same Truth. However, bold exhortations continue to leak from me onto this printed screen. I’m not apologizing. In fact, I’m rather fond of its happenstance. ~g.w
