Psalm 116

Mid-Winter Sun dogs

Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his faithful servants.
Truly I am your servant, LORD;
I serve you just as my mother did;
you have freed me from my chains.
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you
and call on the name of the LORD.
 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD
in the presence of all his people,
in the courts of the house of the LORD—
in your midst, Jerusalem.
Praise the LORD
. Psalm 116(Verses 15-19

The LORD takes special note when one of His own passes on from this life. ‘Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains.’

However, death as a physical release from the chains of this world is not the only death that is precious in the sight of the Lord.

The death of sin in our lives, in our flesh, piece by piece, through process by God’s own making is also precious in God’s site. Through the development of our souls day by day as God leads us home, the death of sin is slowly coming about as we obey, follow and trust Him, increasingly giving more of ourselves over to Him in willing allegiance to His sovereignty.

Yes, Precious in the sight of the LORD
is the death of his faithful servants.

Precious also in the eyes of the Lord, is the incremental death of sin in His faithful servants on our way to complete freedom from our chains to sin.

~G.W.

God gives life for a purpose. It is not random.

“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

          1. I believe it’s called “the wearing down of the saints.
            Many battles in the Spiritual and physical. With diverse temptations in the Body and attacks from people on my emotional state of being.

            1. Yep. Sounds like battle fatigue. Maybe you should enter in the Lords rest to renew your strength. I will pray for you daily. Can you try some R&R withdrawing with just you and the Lord for a bit?

  1. Thanks G.W.
    So many things precious to God are hard here. Even our very understanding of of dying to live while here must change. I am finding that the bonds of trust in our Lord must be extremely strong to see those so close to us who have died as precious. Yet the highest adventure of real true life awaits for those who step onto that bridge and let the savior grasp our hand with eternal unshakable firmness that never lets go .

    1. I so agree, Gary. I often think the things that are hardest for us are the most precious to the Lord. He feels our pain within the deep bond He forms with us. How often He tells us in the scriptures, “Do not fear I AM with you.” How many times do I run to those many, many places He reassures such as I, who needs it most often!
