It would appear spiritual seekers are as much a novelty now as in the day when Greek sages scoffed at it on Mars’ hill. The true church of God is a stranger and pilgrim still; an alien and a stranger in every land; a speckled bird; a dove amidst ravens, a lily among thorns.
Sound biblical doctrine and theology are essential to keep the sheep from the wolves, no question. But there should be confluence where the mind and heart flow together through the soul in making the way toward the throne of God.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matt. 22:37-39) I can in no way imagine the Savior allowing any spiritual harm to come to one who is striving to follow this.
But how, wretched man that I am, can I hope to be able to reach this? By the amazing grace of Almighty God, in Christ making the way and changes within us as we trust and obey.
But don’t take my word for it, look it up and read it for yourself. It’s all there, right where I found it.
Grace. God’s grace, the gift that keeps on giving. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Knowing what I know about myself makes God’s grace all the more amazing! Thank you for this reminder, and Merry Christmas!
