Thanksgiving Day Thought
Thanksgiving, falling on Thursday, November 28 this year, is a holiday here in the US. Our National Day of Thanksgiving is a recognized national holiday, purporting to be in recognition of God for us as a people and individually as a person in honoring the goodness and blessings God bestows on us throughout the year.
The day following Thanksgiving has been coined “Black Friday” unofficially, but generally. The day begins the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas when merchants make the highest percentage of marketing profits for the year. That sentiment for me is mildly reminiscent of the money changers in the ancient temple, as it follows a day sanctified unto God progressing toward another day honoring God. Or that was the original idea for Thanksgiving and Christmas (days sanctified or honoring to God).
Those of us who are more than marginal toward our honoring God and following Christ, let us remember it for what it is – as we do every day of the year – by stuffing 365 times the measure of Thanking Him in our hearts this day which is nothing more than another “holiday” to so many.
Let us enjoy this Day among days, while we continue to remember His goodness every day, as always. Happy Thanksgiving Blessings! 🤗 ~G.W.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:4-5
