My Portion —

When the Lord is our portion He bestows upon us all that He is, and all that He makes available to us.

  • “My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” >Psalm 73:26
  • “I cried out to You, O LORD; I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.” >Psalm 142:5
  • “The LORD is my portion; I have promised to keep Your words.” >Psalm 119:57
  • “The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You secure my lot.” >Psalm 16:5
  • “Therefore, Levi does not have a portion or inheritance with his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, just as the LORD your God spoke to him.” >Deuteronomy 10:9
  • “And it shall be with regard to a portion for them, that I am their inheritance; and you shall give them no possession in Israel–I am their possession.” >Ezekiel 44:28
  • “Then the LORD said to Aaron, “You shall have no inheritance in their land nor own any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the sons of Israel.” >Numbers 18:20
  • “But to the tribe of Levi, Moses did not give an inheritance; the LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as He had promised to them.”  >Joshua 13:33

Speaking plainly, not figuratively! The Lord is my Portion!

He is my everything. I do not need seeking sustenance in a dry and weary land. No need of seeking help from any other when trouble comes upon me. No need to be concerned for my place in this land of wilderness survival.

I do not have a concern about where I shall dwell.

No need for recognition from man nor beast. No need for riches. No need for earthly power. No concern for fashions in clothes nor trinkets this world calls essential.

I need not concern myself how to fit into the world’s cultures, groups, social sets, country clubs, political views, culture views, people views, or other views.

The Lord is my portion. He alone provides for all my needs of identity, self-hood, well- being.

The Lord is my portion. He feeds me spiritual sustenance, and He provides my natural food. The Savior also feeds me the hunger to seek Him, only. He is my portion.

The LORD’s being my portion does not mean pieces of Him, nor only parts. The LORD is my portion in abundance, above and beyond.

Almost if you will not think me irreverent, a one-stop shopping. Providing Fatherhood, motherhood, sisterhood, brotherhood, friend, family, protection, peace, love in abundance, activities of mind, hands, feet, work that sustains and satisfies mind, body, soul. With the restoration of the soul that provides service for others with physical and eternal rewards everlasting.

The Lord is my Portion. Therefore I will trust in Him. His faithfulness is new every morning and does not leave me at night even as I sleep. I sleep secure, and whether sleep eludes me or embraces, I remain steadfast.

He leads me and guides me in the way I should go. He has no need to use the bit and the bridle as is needed for an unbroken horse. He directs me with His eyes as though the rudder of a ship. He sets my sails. He sets my compass. He provides the wind for the power of headway. He sees me through with safe passage in calm, or stormy seas.

The Lord is my Portion, my all in all. What more could I want? I want for nothing. I know peace amid any turmoil. I lack no good thing in the land of famine and drought. The Lord is my portion, and my hunger is for Him. My thirst is for His leading. My love is for Him and emanates from Him, overflowing that I may give to others. Family, friends, near ones, far ones, strangers. All. “One body, one Spirit — as you were called to one hope when you were called — one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” For those who believe. Eph. 4:4-6

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

Therefore I hope in Him!” Lamentations 3:24

“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” Job 13:15

The Lord is my all in all! In this land and the promised land just beyond the gossamer veil. The Lord is my Portion, is my Portion, is my Portion. By His choosing. Not my doing.

God sent His Son to His own to free the many from their sin set.

The many sent Him back to God as a sin offering to be free from their debt.

The Savior willingly took our rightful place becoming our sin surrogate.

On the third day God raised His Son saying, “I do so accept.”

(1 Corinthians 15:12-20)

  1. So true G.W. on every level into our innermost being. and He gives enough to share…but only if he breaks the loaves and fishes. We get to dish out the baskets and collect the leftovers. Ok, you got me going as three cups of coffee didn’t quite do it.
