Age of Intellectualism/Dark Ages

This isn’t an outline, but a sort of introduction to a work-in-progress that I am peeling back the layers of to have a look at what may be there.

The Age of Intellectualism(13th Century to Present) has done as much damage to the reputation of God in its way, as the Dark Ages mythologies (myths and legends) of God did in its time. Put the two ages together, sift out the myths, legends and pseudo-philosophies from both; separate it all into general-likeness assemblages.

Document each item according to its kind. Set up display booths and stands in a carnival setting worthy of both “King Arthur” era and the “Space Age” era, add to it this technological/pseudo-science era with stupendous wide ranging set-up displays. Send out world-class invitations.

How much of a draw do you think there would be? Bet it would be unbridled in height, length, breadth, and depth. Overpowering in sensation the festivals of Carnival Week in Rio de Janeiro and Mardi Gras New Orleans, commingled; along with all other universal party-animal carnivals and festivals, all assembled together. Under one ginormous “tent,” if you will.

It would power through any pagan-class myth from any age. And of course it would all be activated in the name of a multitudinal, variational, interpretive — “God.”

And the One God would scratch His ineffable “head,” and say, “Will they never cease to exceed themselves in making me laugh, by the way they can twist the intellect and gift of sentience I once gave to them?” (Psalm 2)

What does this have to do with Passion(Holy)Week leading up to Resurrection Sunday? Look a little deeper and ask yourself this question:_______. I’ll let you provide the question. There are many I can think of. It is inclusive of, but entails more than, Holy Week and the Resurrection.

This to be continued with more to come as more emerges from the shadows of that which hides in plain sight.  -g.w

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. (Romans 1: 21-23)

go deeper:

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. (Romans 1: 21-31)

Woe. Is. us. If. There. Is. No. Repentance.
