For Us A Child Is Born

Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

Christmas Greetings to all sojourners world-wide!

In His Father’s hands from the Beginning

Gloria in Excelsis Deo!  Glory be to God on high! On this day in Bethlehem, City of David, our Savior was born!

So the drawn rendering above portrays, as He was in His Father’s hands while here, so are we in His Father and our Father’s hands, now, and forever more.

A thought occurred to me while remembering again that Israel experienced four hundred years of silence before the coming of the Christ, the God-man, the promised Messiah. Four hundred years of not hearing a prophet speak for God. Four hundred long years of God just letting them simmer in silence.

It was nearly as lengthy as their time in Egypt as slaves, before He sent Moses as His emissary of emancipation to free them from bondage. But that connection isn’t my point.

What strikes me is that there has been NO silence from Almighty God for the past two thousand years since He freed us from the bondage of sin. His people , the world-wide church, has been proclaiming the Glory of the Lords presence throughout the world since He left us with that commission. His Holy Spirit has been moving to and fro around the world quietly speaking to hearts, preparing the way of the LORD. He hides His message in plain sight for all to see – and some to ignore – and still others to deny. But He has NOT been silent. Therefore, none has excuse. (Romans 1:19-21)

Those four hundred years of silence were broken by the most miraculous, heaven-and-earth shaking occurrence ever performed by Almighty God, the Savior. He came to His creation on earth and walked among us for a while, in the similitude of a man, experiencing, first hand, what we experience as one of His creatures.

It makes me think, in my personal life, about those times of His seeming silence. Something like: What miracle is He preparing? And when will He reveal it? Every blessing he bestows on me I count a miracle. Because I certainly didn’t do anything to deserve it.

He came to His created world, among His created people in the similitude of those people, you and me, to save the many as His primary goal (Mark 10:45). While here He also experienced, first hand, what life in the human experience meant to we, whom He created. He became, for a time, one of us, while experiencing all the ups and downs that we do in a lifetime. And afterward, upon His death, burial, resurrection and His ascension, sitting at the right hand of the Father, He remains fully one of us serving as our Advocate, though remaining fully God, the Son. Mystery.

Interceding on our behalf before God the Father in rebuttal against Satan our accuser. Amazing! Simply put – AMAZING! But to be fair, no words can fully interpret, nor fully grasp this monumental event that split the history of mankind down its center and shook heaven, as it witnessed these proceedings unfolding by this God of Grace, Whom they worship and serve.

The Amazing Grace of Almighty God, in Christ!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!     -g.w.
