Mystery of a New Year

Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. I Timothy 3:16

The birth, life and death of Jesus Christ is ultimately a mystery. Words like “incarnation” are attempts to try to grasp this mystery, yet everything about Jesus life was hard to describe. God can’t be reduced to our terms otherwise He would be made in our image instead of the other way around. We often want to be comforted by easy answers, but God invites us to enter into the mystery of who He is. This coming year may we learn to be more content with Jesus than with answers. May the wonder of God’s mystery guide us.  – Dave Whitehead, Grace Church, NYC

Growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2 Peter 3:18 isn’t about having all the answers for those who question the reason for the hope in us, as much as it is having a growing, closely intimate relationship with the Savior.

My prayer for the new year is that we all may grow in the grace and intimate knowledge of our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Happy New Year!

‘To him that overcometh I will give a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it’ [Revelation 2:17].
